The Neurodivergent Dietitian

Neuroaffirming Nutrition and Holistic Care from a Dietitian that Understanda

All About Me.

Hello! I’m Shona. I’m a Dietitian that works in Scotland. I specialise in working with Neurodivergent children and young people – but have experience in loads of areas of dietetics!

I have a working diagnosis of AuDHD. I understand the struggle of getting an official diagnosis on paper – it’s why I treat a person and not their diagnosis. I also have some understanding of why some food is great but others are terrible, and why textures have such an influence.

I love food. I’ve always loved baking and cooking and even more enjoy sharing this with my daughter. I also enjoy crafting – I joke I collect hobbies, and will try anything from origami to crochet!

For my day to day I work for the NHS and have for over 13 years. I’ve worked a little bit in a lot of roles – and enjoyed them all. Working with ND clients has been the hardest – but the most fun and most rewarding. It’s a role I’m so glad I stumbled into!

I pride myself in being patient centred – every care plan is agreed with parent and child, taking into account their strengths and challenges. I’m keen to learn about your family unit and how I can support. I’m not the food police – I work on a ‘what can we add or change’ not ‘stop eating that immediately’.

I hope that gives you a bit of insight into me and who I am as a clinician.

If you think I could support you or your child, feel free to follow me on social media or email me on theneurodivergentdietitian@gmail.com

I’ll be updating my resources here and on social media and will have patient consultation slots available around August ‘26.
